Thief on the Cross

from 33 A.D. by Dale Lund

lyrics

I see things clearly from this horrible vantage point
My mind is no longer twisted, though my body is out of joint
I'm getting just what I deserve for the way I've lived my life

My life is over with no redeeming thing at all
that I can bring before my Maker. All I can do is fall
upon his mercy and his grace for a sinner such as I

But this man beside me I can tell he has done no wrong
And yet he suffers such agony, though with the dignity of a god
Why does he take what we deserve? Why is he here at all?

But what does this crowd below me know
as they curse and spit in ignorance
at this sorrowful man who gives no defense
Have they no fear of God at all?
No fear of God at all
But I am afraid. I am afraid
Jesus, Jesus, Oh

Jesus I know that this is not your final resting place
For you have a kingdom. Please remember me in your grace
when you come into your glory. Oh, to be with you that day

And Oh, sweet promise that you give me, even though I'm about to die
You're amazing grace has lifted me from the earth into the sky
I have finally found my rest on this most glorious day

about

Dale Lund Vancouver, British Columbia

I've been writing songs since my teens. I like to tell stories in my songs. In each story is a glimmer of the grace held out to us in all aspects of life. I hope as you listen, you will hear and see it. ... more
