Heart of a Child
03:31
|
|||
The Heart of a Child
The heart of a child is a tender rose
Your loving touch is what helps it grow
Like dewdrops from heaven
And a kiss from the sun
Are the nourishing words from your gracious tongue
The soul is a river that flows without end
It tumbles and winds through life’s valleys and bends
The river that drinks from the waters above
swells its shores with a flood of love
Fine tender roses sometimes wither and die
When cold loveless storms fill their sky
And when clouds of great promise bring nothing but lies
The river just might run dry
The heart of a man is a forest of trees
And hiding within are the things no one sees
Like a wall of protection, grown thick and wild
For, deep in the forest is the rose of a child
The forest that’s fed by the river of love
Is a forest that stands no matter what comes
And deep in the shadows, when the light breaks through
A delicate rose will once again bloom

Walk Softly Through My Garden
Walk softly through my garden
and lend me seeds to sow
Breathe gently on the soil
and watch my flowers grow
Come sprinkle them with water
from the well that won't run dry
And as they start to blossom
come hold their heads up high
Now in the midst of summer
my garden's my delight
The flowers coloured brightly
all dancing in your light
And those who pass and see them
admire the way my flowers grow
For in my flowers' glory
they see not me but you
With the breeze of autumn
comes the smell of nearing death
My flowers once in glory
now wilt beneath your breath
And in the cold of winter
hope lies yet beneath death's floor
Come spring my garden blossom's
more abundant than before
And those who pass and see them
admire the way my flowers grow
For in my flowers' glory
they see not me but you

Whispering Leaves
03:34
|
|||
I hear in the whispering leaves
your song to me
I feel in the gentle breeze
your love for me
My feelings confuse me
but you know my heart
And I know you won't bruise me
Tender with my heart
Only you can satisfy
my deepest needs
Only you hear my silent cry
You know my needs
And now when I'm on my knees
I need your touch
Oh Lord, hear me calling please
I need you so much
I hear in the silent hours
your song of peace
I'll sing from the highest towers
sweet song of release
I hear in the whispering leaves
your song to me
I feel in the gentle breeze
your love for me

Matthias' Song
03:32
|
|||
He walks beside me daily with his little hand in mine
and I see wonder in his eyes
He's drinking in the day, the smile across his face
says everything's alright
He laughs at the antics of his dog who makes a frantic
leap at a passing squirrel
the squirrel gets away, and it makes my son's day
to see it in his world
And every day's a brand new day
for living life in just the way
our Father intended it to be lived
And every day you know I pray
my son will live, come what may
in all that the Father has to give
Bulging in his pockets are his little cars and rocks
that he has picked up along the way
And then I reflect on he may collect in the coming days
How can I prepare him for the world that will not spare
and a shadow grips my heart
Then whispered in my ear the answer soft and clear
This is where you start
And every day's a brand new day
for living life in just the way
our Father intended it to be lived
And every day you know I pray
my son will live, come what may
in all that the Father has to give
He walks beside me daily with his little hand in mine
and I see wonder in his eyes
He's drinking in the day, the smile across his face
says everything's alright

Eve
05:03
|
|||
Let me tell you about the day that I woke to a brand new face
I went to sleep with a lonely prayer, now a woman is sharing my place
She is like me and yet she is not, she’s a mystery that’s for sure
Fascinating and yet confusing, this woman I adore
She is clearly a gift to me. I must love her faithfully
She is all the world to me. My heart I give her completely
She is soft and I am strong, yet she’s strong where I am not
She is mine and to her I belong, but sometimes we don’t know what we've got
She is my inspiration; my heart can’t help but sing
She is the perfect partner; now let the dance begin
She is clearly a gift to me. I must love her faithfully
She is all the world to me. My heart I give her completely
Bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh
This woman from man, united we’re blessed
Bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh
What the Father has joined, the Father will bless

Who Will Walk With Them
03:30
|
|||
He sits beside the road with his head in his hands
And all of his possession in a torn paper bag
And all the fine people hardly give him a glance
Thinking, just another beggar in old dirty rags
She lays upon the sidewalk, and mutters to herself
Her eyes are dark and distant, her mind so oft confused
Where she’s come from no one knows, and she’s not so quick to tell
But her face reflects a lifetime of neglect and abuse
Who will walk with them
Who will talk with them
Who will listen to their story
Who will sing for them
and love them
and lead them into glory?
Who will cry with them
and sigh with them
Who will die for them
Who will pray with them
and stay with them
Or who will just pass by
They occupy the corners and fringes of this world
Like a flower desperately clinging to a small clump of earth
Unwanted and forgotten, their voices never heard
Except by him who loves them, and know of their worth.
Who will walk with them
Who will talk with them
Who will listen to their story
Who will sing for them
and love them
and lead them into glory?
Who will cry with them
and sigh with them
Who will die for them
Who will pray with them
and stay with them
Or who will just pass by
He hangs high on a hilltop his flesh nailed to the wood
His heart burns with love, for a world that will not see
It is the scandal of the ages, He dies for being good
But it’s a triumph when he rises, that all might be free
He will walk with them
He will talk with them
He will listen to their story
He will sing for them
and love them
He will lead them into glory?
He will cry with them
and sigh with them
He will die for them
He will pray with them
and stay with them
He will never pass by.

The Call Goes Out
03:06
|
|||
The call goes out, come rise above your troubles
No need to wallow in despair
This world has nothing on you that will not fall away
When Christ reveals his glory everywhere
The need is great, for those who will not falter
When opposition blocks their way
Instead they rise above by falling on their knees
They know that God reveals his power when they pray
The hour has come, to stand among the counted
By faith to serve the one true God
To hold on to the vision that he’s clearly given
To walk the road the saints before have trod
And as he promised he will lead us
Along the narrow road
His word illuminates our way
And he will not abandon
Those he came to save
Those who call upon his name
Finish well, the race that’s set before you
Throw off the things that hold you back
And the joy of God shall be your strength, his presence your delight
His grace shall make up everything you lack
Look ahead, to where Jesus is standing
With a host of angels all around
He welcomes us with open arms, and hands that bear the mark
For which he alone is worthy of the crown
And as he promised he will lead us
Along the narrow road
His word illuminates our way
And he will not abandon
Those he came to save
Those who call upon his name

When You Smile
02:23
|
|||
When you smile, you chase away the gloom
And your face can light up any room
A smile can say so much
When words are not enough
When you smile, when you smile
When you smile, your eyes shine too
Telling us there’s something good in you
Your kind and tender side
Or the joy you just can’t hide
When you smile, when you smile
Oh laughter is a funny thing
That starts out with a smile
And then before you know it, it goes wild
You can pass it on to anyone
Who’s ready to enjoy
The simple things of life that make it
Fun for every girl and boy
When you smile, you give the world a gift
You give the one who’s down a lift
Though your smile is for free
It’s a precious gift to me
When you smile, when you smile.
Oh laughter is a funny thing
That starts out with a smile
And then before you know it, it goes wild
You can pass it on to anyone
Who’s ready to enjoy
The simple things of life that make it
Fun for every girl and boy
When you smile, you give the world a gift
You give the one who’s down a lift
Though your smile is for free
It’s a precious gift to me
When you smile, when you smile.
When you smile, when you smile
When you smile, You smile for me

Her Friend Jesus
05:43
|
|||
There's an old woman kneeling by her bedside
praying God please remember my son
There's a young man, living on the wild side
wondering God oh what have I done?
There's a preacher, preaching on the corner
to a crowd of people who just laugh and carry on
except one kid, lying in a doorway
who just can't shake it, the story about a wayward son
There's a young girl in a house of anger
hiding quietly where she hopes no one will see
She is crying out to her friend Jesus
Please please please, let there be peace
There's a father deeply ashamed
for his uncontrollable rage, driving everyone away
With tears he remembers, the vow he once made
that he'd never be like his dad. He prays hard for a change
There's an old man watching the sun set
clinging to life out of a clear plastic tube
tides of regret pull at his soul
revealing the shipwrecked home of a bitter, bitter old fool
there's a young girl talking to her friend Jesus
Please please please bring him home
there's a warm light of a new sunrise
as the old man makes his peace. he's going home.

He Talks With His Hands
02:36
|
|||
He talks with his hands
he needs someone who will understand
Someone to enter his silent world
This happy little man
who talks with his hands
He learns with his eyes
He's watching the world as it passes by
Watching for one who will give some time
for this precious little guy
who learns with his eyes
Father, he needs a father
You can read it in his hands
And tenderly he needs a mother
who will help him understand
the things he wants to know with his hands
Oh the things he wants to know with his hands
He loves with his smile
he needs someone who will stay awhile
Someone who'll take him into their heart
This beautiful little child
who loves with his smile
Father, he needs a father
You can read it in his hands
And tenderly he needs a mother
who will help him understand
the things he wants to know with his hands
Oh the things he wants to know with his hands

Remember This
02:33
|
|||
And when the day is nearly done, will we laugh and cry as one?
Will you hold my hand before we leave this land
as we watch the setting sun?
And when there's nothing left to say, will we say it any way?
I hope it's very clear that I hold you dear
I have loved you every day
So remember this
sweeter than a lover's kiss
The promise we hold when all is done and told
we will share eternal bliss
Remember do
the only One who's love is true
Heaven and earth will pass, but His love will last
It's always there for you
And when the trumpet finally sounds, where will we be found?
With our hearts entwined, with a love sublime
when the saints come gather round
So remember this
sweeter than a lover's kiss
The promise we hold when all is done and told
we will share eternal bliss
Remember do
the only One who's love is true
Heaven and earth will pass, but His love will last
It's always there for you
It's always there for you

Song for a Friend

Song for a Friend
What a pleasure it is, to laugh for a change
In a time when I’ve been down
You know it really feels kind of strange.
What a joy that I feel, just to see you for awhile
The love in you is an encouragement
It really feels good to smile.
Shadows turn to light
When the Lord is near
His light in you shines bright
Casting out the fear
Hold me in your heart
And I’ll hold you in mine
And though we be apart
Our friendship still will shine
You’ve awakened my heart
From a deep and troubled sleep
I’m alive again with a special friend
In the Lord our love will keep.
In my prayers for you my friend
I care for you my friend
And here’s a song of appreciation
For all that you have been (to me…)

I've been writing songs since my teens. I like to tell stories in my songs. In each story is a glimmer of the grace held out to us in all aspects of life.
