Think of the Good Things

As I was walking down the street not feeling fine I just happened to meet A man with a smile from ear to ear who turned to me and in good cheer, said, Think of the good things, ooo, don’t think of the bad Smile a little harder, ooo, when you’re feeling sad If you want to feel better, ooo, if you think that you should Well think of the nice things, ooo, and you’ll soon feel good And as I went along my way, I thought about that, what he said It seemed to make good sense to me; I thought I’d try it on the next one I see I’d say hey, Think of the good things… Well the next person I met that day had nothing very pleasant to say He looked at me with an ugly frown, complained he’s got no job and his luck is down And I said, Think of the good things… He said, man that sounds like good advice, how come you’re so smart I said it don’t come from the brain, it’s a-coming from the heart The next day I was on the street and feeling alright, And then I met the man to whom I’d given advice He said I feel great now and thanks to you, And I said, well that makes me feel good too, And we sang, Think of the good things… You know, you’re really going to feel good ©Dale Lund 1981

Well I thought that I had much to gain if I went out and stood in the rain I find myself doing things I can't explain Now they're wondering if I'm going insane Well she said that I was not her type Then i wondered what her type must be like It seems to me I'm just a victim of hype Now I find myself taking a hike It's so easy just to go and hide But there'll always be a gnawing inside How could I live with nothing more than my pride No that way I'd never be satisfied My condition's fragile I need someone to survive I need someone who can make me smile Somebody, somebody, need somebody like you Well I wandered out into the sun and laid down to dream of the one Then suddenly like the shot of a gun I realized that this was no fun Is this all happening because of her just because there's someone else she'd prefer I can't believe it makes my vision blur Was I in love? Well I'm really not sure My condition's fragile I need someone to survive I need someone who can make me smile Somebody, somebody, need somebody like you © Dale Lund 1981

Winter is everywhere snowflakes drifting in the air but inside me it's springtime cause you, you're on my mind You're on my mind It'd chill me to the bone if I thought I was truly alone But you know I'm warm inside cause you, you're on my mind You're on my mind And if it wasn't for this distance I'd be with you in an instant and the more I'm thinking of you, I love you And some day when I come home the days are going to be warm I'm finally going to meet you and greet you hello how are you I love you I really missed you I love you I love you too The winter's getting longer My yearning's even stronger I'll never leave you behind cause you, you're on my mind You're on my mind And if it wasn't for this distance I'd be with you in an instant and the more I'm thinking of you, I love you And some day when I come home the days are going to be warm I'm finally going to meet you and greet you hello how are you I love you I really missed you I love you I love you too Outside it's getting colder My life is getting older But inside my memory's still kind cause you, you're on my mind You're on my mind You're on my mind You're on my mind © Dale Lund 1981

You 02:36
You are the first one on my mind You never leave me behind I never realized just how blind I was But you knew it all the time and still You drew the path out for my feet You kept me sheltered from deceit Though I often faltered you were there to meet my needs in your design for my completion I look forward to the days without end when time will be no more when you will carry me home a dream beyond the shore You with an arm through ancient time touch a tiny life so frail as mine now I share possession of a dream so fine of love. A love that is so timeless I look forward to the days without end when time will be no more when you will carry me home a dream beyond the shore You with an arm through ancient time touch a tiny life so frail as mine now I share possession of a dream so fine of love. A love that is so timeless I look forward to the days without end when time will be no more when you will carry me home a dream beyond the shore © Dale Lund 1981

Walk Softly Through My Garden Walk softly through my garden and lend me seeds to sow Breathe gently on the soil and watch my flowers grow Come sprinkle them with water from the well that won't run dry And as they start to blossom come hold their heads up high Now in the midst of summer my garden's my delight The flowers coloured brightly all dancing in your light And those who pass and see them admire the way my flowers grow For in my flowers' glory they see not me but you With the breeze of autumn comes the smell of nearing death My flowers once in glory now wilt beneath your breath And in the cold of winter hope lies yet beneath death's floor Come spring my garden blossom's more abundant than before And those who pass and see them admire the way my flowers grow For in my flowers' glory they see not me but you © Dale Lund 1988

Centurion 03:50
I stood alone in a bitter breeze And watched them nail you to a tree And your blood dripped on me Oh, I am guilty I saw your bruised and bloody face reflect your love for the human race And I wondered at your grace Oh, what grace As the sky was darkening I wondered why an innocent man should have to die I felt the earth beneath me cry Oh, when I heard you sigh It is finished, it is done God has sacrificed his son It is finished, it is done Salvation has begun As a widow wept among the cursing throng I sensed that something was dreadfully wrong And you whispered, "Father, forgive them" Oh, I was forgiven It is finished, it is done God has sacrificed his son It is finished, it is done Salvation has begun Salvation has begun © Dale Lund 1988

about

Dale Lund Vancouver, British Columbia

I was born into a creative family, where jam sessions and art days were part of the fabric of our growing up. Faith in our one true Creator is the weave that held it all together. I've been writing songs since my teens. I like to tell stories in my songs. In each story is a glimmer of the grace held out to us in all aspects of life. I hope as you listen, you will hear and see it. ... more
