Oh Israel (Joseph and Nicodemus)

lyrics

O Israel
How long must you suffer so
O Israel
How many tears must flow

I have been waiting with expectation
for the kingdom of God to arrive
We have been waiting for our nation
to show the world our God is alive

I fear the worst is yet to come
for we're a hard and stubborn race
We pledge allegiance to your law
then disregard your grace

We hide our sin behind religion
and claim wisdom from above
But when the truth is finally known
we're no friend of the God of love

O Israel
How long must you suffer so
O Israel
How many tears must flow

I have been waiting for the Messiah
to come and rescue us
We have been waiting for our Deliverer
Is this he, this Jesus?

There is a light I can't deny
emanating from this man
He holds the truth I so desire
He seems to know God's very plan

For shame I fear to let them know
that I believe in what he said
But I cannot escape the fact
he even raised the dead

And so we pay our last respects
At least let us honor him as he's laid to rest
This one bold thing I must do
Take his broken body, lay it in my tomb
For I believe he was sent from God to free us all

O Israel
How long must you suffer so
O Israel
How many tears must flow

about

Dale Lund Vancouver, British Columbia

I was born into a creative family, where jam sessions and art days were part of the fabric of our growing up. Faith in our one true Creator is the weave that held it all together. I've been writing songs since my teens. I like to tell stories in my songs. In each story is a glimmer of the grace held out to us in all aspects of life. I hope as you listen, you will hear and see it. ... more
